Shrek sized feet on women

I'm convinced I have freakishly wide feet. It doesn't help that they're also big in the general sense. I can usually get away with wearing a size 10 in things like tennis shoes, etc. But I'm really tired of Crocs being my "dressy" shoes. :lmao:

Does anyone know of a good, though reasonably priced, brand of women's dress shoes that come in wider widths? Even when I try on the wide width shoes at places like Payless, they're still too tight across my toes. Also, trying on a 10W is not only still tight across my toes, but then too big in length. :confused3 I'm guessing I need something extra wide? And I really, really don't want grandma shoes. :sad2:

Am I being unrealistic to try to find something cute, somewhat dressy, wide, and less than $200/pair?

you are lucky its only size 10. I wear size 13 or 14 4e shoes. I am 21f. Its torture trying to find shoes.

I really don't think that type of shoe exists and I've given up trying to find any!! I wear thong type dressy sandels in warm weather and Clarks clogs for dress shoes in cold weather. Otherwise I wear crocs! I wear a size 10 too.

I wear a Ladies 11. My sneakers usually come from the men's department and my dress shoes are mostly Birkenstocks off ebay. When I go to a store and ask for an 11 and they oh-so-helpfully offer me size 10 shoes because they don't carry 11s. It's a good thing I'd rather play at Disney than buy shoes!

These answers make me :sad1:

But it's about what I expected. Other than having custom made shoes, I'm guessing I'm stuck. Flats, Crocs, and tennies are all fine, but I will mourn my lack of cute dressy shoes.

No don't give up. I have super wide feet and last year I discovered that easy spirit actually got a new buyer. I was able to get cute extra wides in several sandals - regular wides in a few wedges. really check it out-- you can put in your size and width requirements and you can find a bunch that will work. TRY THEM!! I am going back for a bunch this year too- not all grandma looking.
Oh and I call them Flintstone feet

are the 10 double wides.
If you look at the regular wide you'll see even a better selection

look at this cute one

I feel your pain! I'm a 9½ but I'm also a "wide and a half". Womens' Wide shoes are usually a D. Extra wides are an EE. I actually measure an E. :sad2:

Anyway, I recommend Munro shoes - they come in a very wide variety of sizes and styles. I usually find them at Nordstrom. They aren't cheap - I've paid about $120-140 for the shoes I've bought.

I feel your pain. But my issue is my feet are small. I am a 43F and I am a size 3 kids. Nothing better than being 43 and able to wear light up sneakers:rotfl2: And yes I have 2 pairs

Have you tried The Avenue? They only sell wide and extra wide shoes and they have some really nice styles. And as a bonus, their shoes are very comfortable. I have several pairs of Cloudwalkers.

I wear a size 11 womens, but often find myself in a size 12 if it's a shoe I really want (or the only dressy one I can find)- because, IMO, going up a size seems to help with the width issue I have. I typically wear men's sneakers as well, although I have tried New Balance sneakers, and they're great- they are suggested by my podiatrist as having a great built-in arch (I have problems with my 'sasqwatch-size' feet- as my DH likes to call them...), and they are also available in wide widths that work for me. Good Luck!

I have to buy my shoes from the Drag Queen side of the store, and I've had great luck at Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack. I have nice pumps and mary janes from there. Daily, I wear SAS Shoes or Danskos to work. I don't think they are too bad looking, but I got over it all the way when my mom had her second foot surgery and decided to fight genetic destiny. SAS stores have remarkable sizes and the Danskos I've been able to find at Zappos. I seem to pay at least $100 for any pair other than my New Balance tennies, but to me it's worth it. Good luck!:)

I also wear a wide and love softspots. They are not cheap, unless you can find them at DSW for $50 or so...I know, still not too cheap. But they are cute and come in W and extra W. They're wide means wide too!

I not only have wide feet, I have thick feet. I have bought mens shoes for years, but this year I needed a pair of dress shoes for my DSs upcoming wedding. I found shoetrader.com and ordered shoes from them a couple of weeks ago. I ordered 8 WWWW and this is the first time I have found a pair of womens dress shoes that fit me in over 20 years. Good luck!

LOL at the title! I wear size 11 and so does DD14. I used to have better luck finding bigger sizes when we lived in VA, not as many 11s in NE.

I can't remember if they have wides too but I've had good luck w/larger sizes w/some room in them at Famous Footwear. They seem to be the only local store I can find w/reasonable prices that regularly stock 11s.

I don't know about reasonably priced, but Aravon brand shoes come in wider widths. I have size ten wide feet and I got some really cute ones at the New Balance store. They were $125 though. But I needed them becuase I have foot problems and I am able to take out the insole and put in my orthotics. They're VERY well made and really attractive shoes. Very comfy, which is ALWAYS a problem for me.

I feel your pain - I have very wide feet, and even most normal wide width shoes are too narrow. However, I'm at the opposite end size wise - I usually wear a size 5 1/2. I went to Nordstrom's just looking for a plain pair of black dress pumps since I did not own one pair of shoes I could wear with a suit/skirt for work. They told me that most brands don't even make wide width that small.

I've managed to make out ok for winter shoes - I just go up a size and compensate with thick socks, etc, and no one really knows if they're a little big. I haven't figured out anything for summer sandals however - I would really love some cute pairs of sandals that are not flip flops, but by the time I get them wide enough to slide my foot into, they are way too long for me and look ridiculous. I really don't like the look of most of the brands that do make a wide widths, and they are way out of my budget. I've started going to Payless every month or so and trying on almost every pair of shoe they have in 5 1/2 wide and 6 wide. I've found a couple pairs that that are cute and comfortable doing it that way over the last 6 months, and at least they're in my price range when I find them!

It seems like so many people love shoe shopping and can just walk into a store and find cute shoes and I wish I had that. I wish you luck with your search.

I'm looking on shoebuy.com today, and noticed they have a place to search for the extended widths (not just "W" or even C) and sizes.

I have to agree with The Avenue and Easy Spirit. I'm sure you'll be able to find something between the two stores.

Cruise - have you tried on any Keens? I am a VERY huge Keen freak for comfort and being rEALLY good for my VERY bad back problem...but another plus is the shoes is pretty wide. I too wear a 10 but when I try to get wides they end up too long or weird int he heel area....

These are my current favortie "dress" Keens - granted they arent too dressy but work with a skirt/summer dress and , well, are a bit dressier than Crocs!:lmao: :goodvibes

Good luck - there's hope for us Shrek footed women!;)

(Speaking of which, when I bought new tennis today - and last time too - I had to get a MENS 91/2 - whats up with that - are my feet growing or mens sizes shrinking?:confused3 )
