we are going to Disney this September for the boys ( 4 and 6) and was all gung-ho about MNSSHP, and then saw the ticket prices and am thinking if spending $200+ for three hours is worth it? I mean, I am doing this trip for my boys, we are doing everything they are going to enjoy...and they love dressing up in Halloween costumes and going trick or treating, but I am trying to think of getting tickets for this and wondering - is this worth it? I mean, I am spending about 5K for a one week vacation there, so 200 more will not break the bank, but when I am taking things into perspective...is the MNSSHP really worth it?
Please dont flame me, I am just trying to understand how good it is, what are your views...help me decide...

Thanks,
D.

Welcome to the DIS, des1rees!

If your kids love dressing up for Halloween, they will totally love the party! It is so much fun. Even adults can trick or treat around the Magic Kingdom!

The parade is awesome, and the characters are out in costume (I didn't go to the WDW one last night, but last year at DL, I saw Goofy dressed up as a skeleton, Chip or Dale (or maybe both) dressed up as a prisoner. It was really cool.

The fireworks are really great.

If you can afford it, I say go for it!

Believe me I know how you feel! I thought the same thing back in 2006 when we went for the first time. But, my boys would be devastated if they couldn't go trick or treating with Mickey every year. It doesn't help that both my boy's birthdays are in October, so they feel that this is something special for them. My youngest was born on Halloween, so for years he thought the church's big Fall Festival was a big birthday party just for him! Ahh, the innocence of youth! Anyway, it IS very special. The atmoshere is party-central. The parade is the best, and Hallowishes, OMG, it was spectacular last year! Plan on staying the entire 3 hours, plan your touring strategy, take advantage of all the special little things going on around you, and I think you will feel like it is worth it. Expensive, yes, worth it IMHO, YES!
Good luck with your choice.

The party is a lot of money. We did go last year and paid around 46 each. To be honest it is fun but I'm really not sure if it is all that worth it. We did go to the Christmas Party a number of years ago and honestly I thought that was somewhat better. Maybe the Christmas snow and decorations. I am going again in Sept/Oct and we have decided not to go and spend all the money for a few hours. It was pretty crowded last year and that too has help make us choose not to go. I'm sure others might think differently, but there are so many other free or less expensive things to do. We will be staying in Fort Wilderness camping and I have found that they have an evening campfire and free movie every night as well as Haunted Hayrides. Just my thoughts. The MK is decorated during the day and I'm sure there will be so much for your children to do they won't miss it. It does run until midnight and that is kind of late for true enjoyment. Also, if the weather is bad you are kind of stuck. Last year there were some bad weather days and some type of refund but it just to me isn't worth the cost. Have a great time whichever you pick!

For me, it would be 250 dollars for the 5 of us to go. Instead of spending 50 dollars a piece for one night we could spend 50 dollars a piece for the water parks and more add on. A much better deal. If they like to Trick or Treat, have them dress up and go around to the resorts or something. WAY too much money in my book for a fancy parade and cheap candy!!!

If it helps any, you get more than 3 hours for that price. Party is from 7-midnight, but from everything I've read you can get into the park at 4 p.m.

We're doing the Xmas party when we go in December and aren't planning to do a park that day. We figure the money we save on that ticket will offset the cost of the party ticket, and we'll still have 8 hours in the park if we want (although DD won't make it 'til midnight I'm sure)>

Yes, I believe that is correct as I witnessed this 4:00 entry last week for P&P Party. So try not to think of it as an expensive 3 hour party, but an 8 hour park entry, with a special event party for the last 5. I've never been but it sounds like great fun!

We are going once again for Halloween. I am on hold as we speak and just realized that this year the cost is going to be $250!! Since we have done MNSSHP several times before I do not think it's worth the money. Too late though as the kids would be crushed and I already bought all their costumes. I think this will be our last year doing it.

You are right - I asked a CM and she confirmed that in the past you have been able to enter with your MNSSHP ticket after 4pm

Good luck to everyone trying to get tickets!! I'm going to try this afternoon - can someone post the phone# one more time for good luck :)

If it's trick or treating you're interested in, go to DTD for trick or treating for FREE!!

We love MNSSHP and MVMCP, but quite honestly, the prices are getting too high. The hardest part for me is paying those prices, and because it's rain or shine, you could be miserable walking around in pouring rain trying to get your moneys worth.

Welcome to the DIS. I agree with the other posters, it is a fun event; however, I also understand your double-thinking the event because of the cost. Disney has increased the admission prices somewhat significantly in my opinion this year for some reason.

I've actually decided not to attend because of it. So if you decide not to go don't think you are the only one.

It was totally worth it for us last year. But we are really into Halloween and dressing up and trick-or-treating! It was the highlight of our trip last year ~ the fireworks and parade are awesome. Also, they start letting guests into the party at 4:00 p.m. so actually you can be in the park for about 8 hours. The day of the party last year, we swam all morning, had lunch, got bathes and then my kids took about a 3 hour nap, so we stayed at the party until 12 midnight and shut the place down!

407-wdisney (though on another thread someone got striaght through on resort ressies line).

It is a lot. We had planned to go based on last year's prices and booked our trip around it. Once we'd booked the trip around it, we were kinda stuck with the prices. I just hope it doesn't pur rain that night! I know my kids will really love it. I had planned a character meala nd I think I'll just not do that instead. Really, when you think of what BBB costs or PP tea or even CRT for four, it doesn't seem that out of line. It's Disney-the most expensive place on earth. LOL Before I went the first time I thought, "I don't think this will be worth all this money but it's worth doing once." Once I was there, I loved it so much, I could have cared less what it cost.

Its going to cost us $265 plus tax to go to the MNSSHP. It is our first trip and I really wanted to go but I'm not sure I'm willing to spend that much for tickets, especially in September. I could see doing it if we were going close to Halloween.
If you are planning on seeing all the major shows at the parks at night, and all the parades in the different parks plus spending 2 whole days in MK would you think spending almost $300 worth it to see MNSSHP?

Hi there,
This is my plan and it may work for some.....

Because they are no longer offering a discount to buy ahead I am waiting until I get there and will decide to buy based on the weather. If it is pouring rain we won't go and if it is sold out so be it ...I wouldn't want to go if it is that busy anyway...don't tell the kids you are going and wait and see.....( if they don't know about it) ...and bring their costumes.....

We too are spending around that this trip, and since we've upgraded to the Poly, we will NOT be going to MNSSHP....we'll trick o treat at home. That extra (nearly 300) can be put towards paying for the trip!

That's my plan for Sept. I've been rained on for 2 Pirate and Princess Parties, so I'm not going to decide to go until I get there and see the weather!

Thanks, that's a great idea and is exactly what I'll be doing on Sept. 9th.
That'll relieve the stress of worrying about the weather (and our son is only 2, this event is mainly for us  )

It seems like there are more "Premium Dates" than in the past. I understand the week of Halloween being considered Premium, but what's so special about the other date?
