Our New HM Office

OK, now I know I have been reading the DIS boards too long. I took the HM in your title to mean "hidden Mickey's" and I won't tell you how long I spent looking for hidden Mickey's in your last picture...:rotfl:

It does look great though!

:lmao:
I have thought about putting a hidden Mickey in the design. Even my parents asked where the hidden mickey was.

I was thinking about giving the little alien guy some Mickey ears...

I guess I better put a HM in my HM wallpaper...:goodvibes

:wave2: Where did you find the trashcan? I love it! We are trying to start redoing our Home Office into a Disney theme. We are stuck on the first step-the paint for the walls and woodwork. One day, we want red. the next day we think it might be "too much." Aghhh! :rotfl:

My DH got me the trashcan and accessories for my birthday a couple (maybe 2) years ago. He ordered them from DisneyShopping.com, but they no longer have them unfortunately.

I say pait it red, if you don't like it you can always repaint it... Or you could always just paint the bottom half of the wall red, the top half white (or another less intense color) and put a boarder in the middle to seperate the two. Then maybe it wouldn't be too much.

Forewarning you about the red - we are working on our disney kitchen and I wanted the red "Mickey Pants" paint from Home Depot. Wow! It was intense and made the room dark and small. Then I had to go back and put 2 coats of white. I did leave the red above my cabinets. I still love the red, but the whole room red was too much.

Staci,
THAT IS AWESOME!!!!
I just found this board, it's terrific! That's why I didn't post on your progress:goodvibes
I can't wait to see the finished room!

BTW, I wanted to do one wall in my hallway HM, but I figured I could get some striped wallpaper, kinda like the stretching room with the murals, you know? But that didn't pan out.

Can't wait to see the finished room!

Here is a little progress. We want to do a double built in desk thing along the back wall. We just have to quit taking trips to Disney so we can save up to buy it... ;)

No, I have not. Yet! I knew someone was going to ask about that when I posted that. We got busy painting upstairs and just last week got office area put back together. I still plan on adding it. I will be sure to post pictures when I do.

Wow a bathroom and office you must be very busy. Thanks for all the great pics. I really enjoy seeing all the great things you all do to your homes!:cutie:

We plan on finishing the whole basement, but that is as far as we have gotten... The Disney trips cut in on the basement completion funds. :rolleyes1

Glad you enjoy the pictures. I enjoy seeing others pictures also.

Love the rooms! What a talented husband and wife team!!! I could think of a ton of projects to do if my husband could create those "large stickers". It's amazing!

Fantastic idea and a lot of hard work on your parts! Great job!

How did the glow in the dark eyes turn out?

How did the glow in the dark eyes turn out?

We painted some of the eyes and were really excited to see them glow... We turned the lights out and nothing. We thought maybe they have to completely dry. We waited and nothing. We tried everything to make them glow. We thought maybe we didn't let them "charge" enough so we turned the light on longer. Nothing. Then we thought maybe the light wasn't bright enough, so got a brighter light and shined it directly on the eyes. Still nothing. DS has an air hockey table with a blacklight over it we have yet to take that down and try to see if it would "charge" the eyes. We were disappointed it didn't work and we haven't done anything with them since.

We shook the glow in the dark paint for quite a while before we painted the eyes, but did not stir it. We will have to see if stiring it would help or try a different kind of paint. One of these days we will get back to it. We got new bedroom furniture for Christmas so we shifted gears and have been working on the upstairs for a while.

Thank you!

DH decided to make himself a custom guitar so he hasn't had a whole lot of free time to help with projects lately. It wasn't just a buy the parts and assemble type thing either. He bought a block of wood and MADE a guitar... He is almost finished with it now and it does look really nice. Hopefully we will get back to the house projects soon.

OMG! I just found this thread.

Did you finish your basement HM thread? GREAT wall...I can't believe how professional it looks.....

It's all paint!

My FIL has a sign business. We found something with the wallpaper design on the internet and he recreated it in his sign program and cut it out of paint mask (like a big sticker) on his plotter (like a large printer, but using a blade instead of ink).

I painted the wall a dark green and then sponged it with a slightly lighter shade of green. You can kind of see that in the first photo. Then we put the stencils of the pattern on the wall and used flat black paint to create the design. I still have to paint about 10 eyes on each design in the pattern with glow in the dark paint. I am not looking forward to that, but you got to do what you got to do for your addiction...

That is the back wall of the office, which really only has 3 walls. We are finishing the basement and we didn't want to close the office off since we going to be in there a lot and will have to keep our eye on children. The 2 side wall we painted a tan color that matches the rest of the walls in the hall way. We thought all three walls with the dark HM "wallpaper" would be too much and make it too dark. Not to mention the time it took us to do just one wall. We have other HM stuff to hang on the side walls. My parents bought DH a large framed HM architechtural drawing for Christmas last year that will take up one wall and he has some HM posters and pictures we have taken over the past couple of years that will go on the other wall. The back wall that we worked so hard on will be covered up some with cabinets/work stations/desks. We haven't yet come to an agreement yet on that configuration along with the placement of his beloved HM action figures...

The whole basement is going to be our own little Disney World and escape from reality. On another thread I have posted pictures of our bathroom that is next to the office. It is done in red/black/white Mickey theme. It also is not finished, but I just ordered the boarder for in there so hopefully that room will be done soon. We haven't started on the bar or family room areas yet but I have lots of ideas. If we would just quit taking trip to WDW we might be able to afford to finish this project!

Here is the link to the picture of the bathroom incase you want to see it. Post #30

BTW thanks for posting. I was begining to think I was alone on this board...

Sorry to ramble on.

You should TOTALLY sell those paint mask things! Awesome wall.

Ha ha! I just saw this comment... Thanks! No we haven't finished anything in the basement... My husband started running which took up his free time. I always hated running so I would work in the basement every now and then. Then the running bug bit me... When we are not tired and feel we should do something we usually go out and run until we are tired. Extra projects around the house are not getting done. :( Oh well home project are for when we retire right? Both my husband and my parents just retired in the last 2 years and both dads are itching to do some work in our basement if we every decide start the project again. So maybe we will find some time eventually. I would say this fall, but with us training for the Dopey Challenge in January I don't think it is going to happen, but you never know. :)
