DISappearing Peeps...A fastpass to THIN! Part 4

Boys are so weird. Even after growing up with four brothers and being married 2 years, I still don't get them! My DH always says "Don't read into things." He says I need to take things he says for face value. I am always trying to find the hidden meaning in things, when really, there is none!
Wait, have you and my wife been talking!?! She does that all the time! I don't know how many times I've had to tell her the exact same thing your husband told you. And you say men are hard to figure out...

Everyone else -- hello! :wave2:

Okay....so, I have FINALLY decided to join this board and get serious about losing weight. A little back story, if anyone is interested..... back in Feb. '06 I was asked to be in one of my best friends' wedding. She's a size 2 and ALL the other bridesmaids are from size 00 to 4.....SSSOOOOO, I was Big Fat Bridesmaid! AAAAHHH!! Anyway, I lost 30 pounds from Feb to June and had my dress taken in from a 16 to a 10 for the July wedding. I finally felt normal! Anyway, I kept it up for a few months by exercising pretty regularly (running and weight training 5 times a week) and then in November '06, I got a new job and got thrown completely out of my routine and LONG story short have gained about 40 pounds since November! I know, it's shocking and it hurts to admit it, but that's the truth! Anyway, I just got back from the horrible, horrible doctor's appointment and found out that I have a bone spur on my spine and my extra weight is aggravating it and causing me SO much pain. So, now I am bound and determined to lose this weight again! Weight Watchers worked for me before, but I haven't been able to get back on board with it so I think I'm going to try the 5 Factor Diet and start a walking routine (since running is OUT of the question for now!) Anyway, sorry to be long-winded but I just wanted everyone to know my yo-yo habits I guess! W.I.S.H. me luck!

:goodvibes Welcome aboard!
Amen sister..i know the feeling of being the "big fat bridesmaid"..i am in a wedding in Sept..and i am by far going to be the biggest of the bunch, the bride is a 2 and the other girls are from 0-6...not me of course. I am doing my best to look decent in my much bigger sized dress but I have a constant fear that i will stick out like a sore thumb..and this, i conceded, will be the last big EVENT that i will feel this way..hence joining this thread and getting real about exercise, weight loss and overall health..you are in the RIGHT place :)

Welcome!!! No, the weight gain is not shocking... unless you mean shockingly familiar!! So sorry about the bone spur. What is the 5 factor diet? I do plain calorie counting (1200), w/ sparkpeople, and tons of exercise. Have you looking into that Walking Away the Pounds (I think that's it) thing? I think some other WISHers have tried it with much success.

Went to the eye dr and my prescription hasn't changed, so I used my insurance allowance to get new glasses! I usually wear contacts and don't wear glasses much (at night and on weekends), so I hadn't had a new pair since 2000 or so. I wear gas permeable (hard) contacts so they only need to be replaced every 3 yrs or so, so I had the extra on my insurance to allow for glasses. They will still be ugly of course, but at least now I have a backup for weekends. I *heart* vision insurance... saved almost $500 today!

I was one of the PEEPS that does Walk away the Pounds. I do it when i don't feel like driving ALL the 5 minutes it takes to get to the gym ;) ..its actually a really good work out if you get into it ...:thumbsup2

thanks for mentioning the eye doctor..i am in desperate need to make an appt myself! i need new glasses in the worst way, i typically wear the 2 week accuvues, but i like to give the peepers a rest and wear glasses from time to time, and mine are so scratched up--not cute!

Speaking of A., we had some nice moments today. He seemed to be in a much better mood. Caught him starting at me too during our lunch break ;) :

keepin you guessing huh? typical MAN..no offense Aaron..lol ;)

I meant to ask yesterday, does anyone here watch H E double Hockey sticks Kitchen?? ( trying not to get the dreaded censor astericks! ***) The finale is next Monday and I am actually pretty into it..thank you Tivo for allowing yet another show into my life :sad2:

I misposted earlier - I am actually staying at SS with my daughter. OKW was not available. I think we will enjoy it. I am a bit apprehensive about renting points and making sure when I arrive in Disney I have a room!

Pam, I rented points in January (and then bought!). Central Reservations can't confirm the ressie ever, but the front desk at the resort can once they download it. You can call the resort itself from 1-5 days before arrival and they will confirm the reservation for you. Your confirmation letter should have the resort phone number on it.

Hi everyone~
Sorry I don't have much time to read through all the posts from today, but I will catch up tomorrow :)

Punkin-just wanted to say thanks for the chicken recipe. I didn't have a chance to cook it yet, I tried another recipe for "Mexican Chicken" from the SouthBeach website, but I will try yours tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a great day! Talk to you soon.

Becky we do a "salsa" chicken sometimes... grill a chicken breast, and add a can of green chiles, some salsa, and a bit of cheddar or mexican blend cheese. We put it on foil and back on the grill until the cheese melts, but you could also do it in the oven. Low calorie, low carb, and full of flavor!

I read into EVERYTHING! :rotfl:

And, yes, I will finally have my Master's in April in speech language pathology. :yay:

Yay!! I am hoping to finish my MS in Computer Science in November. I think I finally got things worked out to finish up, but I have one more piece in the puzzle...

I just called a bridal shop to give them my measurements for a wedding that I will be in this December. The bridal shop is in Wisconsin and I am in Phoenix. Anyway, the bridal shop lady told me she would be ordering a size 14 for me. I normally wear a size 8! I don't get it.

Well, if you decide to do pediatrics, can you please move to Phoenix because the kiddos I work with can't find SLPs anywhere!!!!

Hi peeps! Hope you're all having a great day!!

It's a scorcher here today. Better plan on indoor exercise. :yay:

Still hanging in with eating healthy this week -- yesterday cals were 1397 (and that included a piece of hubby's birthday ice cream cake - so not bad)

Had brown rice/spinach/feta cheese casserole for dinner last night - super tasty and an excellent meatless meal.

Hope everybody is doing well -- take care of yourself today!! :flower3:

I know it!!! I had to order a 16, and when i was measured i was def. wearing 14s, so i can see the slight jump in size, but still..how depressing..going UP a size...:sad2:

Here too!! 103 is the forecast. I did my 30 min on the elliptical at lunch 100 crunches on that darn dirty ball, and I have my hour of ice hockey tonight (feels sorta weird to have ice hockey when it is so hot out...). On track to be on or under my 1200 cals.

You know, some days when I don't want to exercise or I want to eat bad, and this will embarrass her, but I think of Dene. The dedication and courage that it takes to lose 110 lbs... well, it helps keep me on track. So thanks Dene!!

yep, i watch it. although we're always an episode behind because the new episode comes on at 9:00 on monday nights and that interferes with my "big love" time and i'm too cheap to buy a tivo. so we always watch the rerun at 8:00 on mondays. i have no clue who will win. i picked the winners the last two seasons, but this year i'm stumped. what do you think?

it's so hot here that i don't even want to get in my car to go to the gym.....just want to stay inside my air-conditioned house all day! i think i'm gonna do a cardio tape instead of going to the gym this afternoon.

that casserole sounds yummy. will you share the recipe?

i found a recipe for a low fat/high protein mexican turkey quesadilla that i'm gonna try. if it's good i'll share it with you guys!

Yes, IM a HUGE FAN!! i love that show...been watching all three season. I can not decide who i want to win... i like them both but i feel like Rock came from a tougher background, so maybe he deserves it more. It seems like bonnie might just have had a lot handed to her. But i really like the both of them, so its gonna be a tough call. Cant wait to watch the season finale!

Nice..i knew there would be other "watchers"
I am rooting for Rock. I do like them both, but i really feel that Rock would, pardon the pun " ROCK" at running a restaurant, and his kids are so super cute!! Bonnie does slightly give off the "spoiled" vibe, but she's ok. I liked Julia alot actually, and think its awesome that Chef Ramsey is paying for her to go to culinary school..i would LOVE that!

So you think you can dance is on tonight:thumbsup2 ..results not till Monday though i guess..boo to that!

In regards to Julia, I KNOW!! I think she was america's underdog that everyone wanted to win. I mean she had the drive, its a shame she just wasnt as knowledgeable as everyone else. I really wanted her to win. But like you siad, its AWESOME what chef ramsey is doing. i was surprised because usually he comes off as such a jerk.

I do! DH got us started on it in the middle of this season. I thought Jen was going to win. Now I don't know!

I just called a bridal shop to give them my measurements for a wedding that I will be in this December. The bridal shop is in Wisconsin and I am in Phoenix. Anyway, the bridal shop lady told me she would be ordering a size 14 for me. I normally wear a size 8! I don't get it.

I have had that happen with bridesmaids' dresses to me before too. And my wedding dress was actually like that too. I was wearing 14's at the time. They ordered it in a 16 according to my measurements, and when it came in, it was too small! There was a 4-inch gap in the zipper, and it was discontinued! I managed to lose the weight (and not need alterations) in the next 4 months and fit into it by the time of the wedding! :thumbsup2 But I find it frustrating that sizes for that type of dress have to be different than sizes for everything else. :confused3

Where is everyone tonight?

Did everyone know that tonight was National Night Out Against Crime? Basically local law enforcement agencies hold community events tonight to "unite" against the criminals. Hard to explain. Anyway, since my mom works at our police dept., she helped plan some of it so she had to attend. They had lots of military personnel and police officers and I just LOVE a man in uniform. ;) I only go to see the Bagpipers and the K-9 demonstrations.

So that was my evening. Now onto a couple small vents...

1) I called my internship site to set up a meeting for next week. They want me to shadow a clinician for the day before I start. No biggie. Then the secretary tells me that on my 1st day I have to administer an evaluation at 4 and a client at 5-5:30. Well, aside from me panicking that I have to dive right in on my 1st day...there is another even bigger problem. I have class at 5:30. And my internship is a good 45-55 minutes from school, especially at that hour. :confused3 So I nicely remind her that I have class at 5:30 on Mondays. "Oh..." She seemed really annoyed, but it is not my fault that they didn't listen when I told them I was taking a class on Monday nights. She said we'll discuss it next week. I don't understand what's to discuss. I have class. Nuff said. You either reschedule or have another clinician do it. :confused3 Oh and I made this call at 8:30 in the morning right before class which made for a great start to the morning. Luckily it got much better.

2) I've mentioned a girlfriend I have at school. We're not super close but we do talk outside of school and we have a few classes together. Anyway, she was the only one who knew about A. and I. That I liked him and then that we went out on a date. A couple days after our 1st date, I decided that she was just way too annoying to talk to about A. and I couldn't take her constant nitpicking of everything we did. So I told her I just didn't want to talk about it to anyone. But she kept asking me how he and I were doing. So I told a fib and said that I was over it and not dating him anymore at all, and that I was getting over him, didn't like him anymore. Well, for a week, she called me twice to ask me how I was doing, how am I handling things, that she understands if I'm upset, etc. :confused3 Ummm, I'm sorry I was under the impression that we had only gone out on one date. Yes I like him and I have gotten upset over him but seriously? So I told her that I'm totally fine, A-OK, no hard feelings, everyone is great. Then tonight she just called me and is asking me if there were any developments and how I was doing. :confused3 Didn't I just do that last week? So I told a small fib and said that we decided to just be friends and that everything is great, we talk and everything is fine between us. And she just keeps asking me if I'm ok with that, blah, blah. And I just keep telling her that I'm great. And she is not getting it.

As far as she is concerned, we went out on one (really great) date! It's not like we were engaged going out for months. What is the deal. We weren't ever (and still aren't) even a real couple. I mean, this has gone above and beyond just being nice and seeing how I'm doing. What do I have to tell her to get her to realize that A. and I are fine. I even spun it so that she wouldn't think he was a jerk to me. I don't want to make him look bad for something he didn't do. This girl is so frustrating. :sad2:

Speaking of A., we had some nice moments today. He seemed to be in a much better mood. Caught him starting at me too during our lunch break ;) Funny story that you might not get but I want to share it. I'm feeling "chatty" . This morning our prof took attendance and asked us all a question about yesterday's material to "test" us. Well, she gets to A. and says how serious he always is in class, especially when speaking. So then I follow him alphabetically by about 2 people. So then it is my turn and she says good morning and I tell her the same and she says that I'm "another serious one". "A. and Shannon are my 2 serious ones". Anyway, I was just holding my breath, praying that she didn't make a joke about how we should go out with each other or something because I would have lost it. It sounded like she was going to move in that direction.

So anyway, that was my day...another long day of cleft palate and craniofacial anomalies tomorrow! Have a good night everyone! :flower3:

Soooo? Sweetie, how are you. Really? JUST KIDDING!!!

I am secretly hoping you two will end up together. :rolleyes1 But that's a secret :cool2:

Another fan here! We didn't see the first season but watched last year and the current one. We love it. I really thought it was going to be Jen too. I know what y'all mean about Bonnie, but watching this past week, see seems to have it together more than Rock does. I also think he needs to learn a bit of humility. Bonnie has done that during this season. DH thinks she'll win because she's a girl and Ramsey seems to favor girls.

I just called a bridal shop to give them my measurements for a wedding that I will be in this December. The bridal shop is in Wisconsin and I am in Phoenix. Anyway, the bridal shop lady told me she would be ordering a size 14 for me. I normally wear a size 8! I don't get it.

Any possibility of being able to go to a local bridal shop and trying on the dress so you know it's the right size?

Things are going pretty well here. We spent half of the morning at the hospital and enjoyed DH's company. His meds were ordered wrond so he wasn't getting them every 8 hours like he should've been. They have fixed the problem but it means he's probally wasted 24 hrs just sitting there. We were hoping he could come home tomorrow but it looks like Fri is more likely. Since he isn't home, we're having fish and broccoli for dinner tonight. He can't stand the smell of fish so we don't eat it very much unless we go out.

We're heading back to the hospital when we're done with dinner so I'll catch up with y'all later.

[Dene?? Were you abducted by Date #3 or did it go THAT well. ;)

Ehhh, it was ok. We ate lunch, walked around the square, had a limeade... lasted 5 hours... but I got no "sparks" (he did... guess I'm just not attracted to guys that are attracted to me:confused3 )... I am going out with him again Friday to a play... just in case I accidentally missed the spark.

On a more interesting note, I joined a local group called DFW Outdoors... they have lots of social and adventure events... comedy clubs, happy hours, tubing, kayaking, cycling, camping, scuba diving, hiking, snow skiing, etc... and next June they're spending a week in Peru white water rafting, mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking around Machu Picchu. Going to my first event Saturday (a pool party... why did I pick my first event to include swimsuits? :lmao: )

Speaking of swimsuits, I also signed up for scuba lessons :woohoo: ... DD19 is taking them with me... I could have just done a refresher course, but I don't know where any of my paperwork is (haven't done and open water dive in 22ish years)... plus, taking it with DD. Dude! I forgot how $$$ all that gear can be!:scared1:

You know, some days when I don't want to exercise or I want to eat bad, and this will embarrass her, but I think of Dene. The dedication and courage that it takes to lose 110 lbs... well, it helps keep me on track. So thanks Dene!!

 Thanks... y'all keep me going, too. And I love that you play hockey... something active, but not necessarily in a gym or that "everybody" does... that's part of why I joined the outdoor group and signed up for scuba, might as well have fun and meet new people while I exercise! :thumbsup2

Well, speaking of exercise... gotta go to the gym to work off some frustration by doing a little running on the treadmill (oh, yeah... Sunday, I found out I can run... hadn't in over 20 years... definitely feeling muscles I haven't been using in my other exercises  ).

Good for you Dene!!!!

I can't imagine purposely doing ACTIVITIES! I want to be like that! :cool1:
You are my hero!!!!

I just take little 10 minute breaks and jump on the tread mill. I cuss and swear the whole time...BUT I DO IT!!

:thumbsup2 Good for you! You cuss and swear now, but before long, you might actually find yourself wanting to do it more. As much trouble as I have getting myself to do it in the first place, once I get into the routine, I miss it if I don't do it.
