What else to say to the characters???

Love this thread --- didn't have time to read all of it yet but I've got one. Last year, my daughter asked Belle what her favorite book was? This sparked an interesting conversation:)

My brother asked Piglet if he wanted some sausage when we had our breakfast at the crystal palace:eek: I know, he's gross!!

On my daughter's first trip to Disney she and my son thought we were just riding the monorail to visit with a friend of mine who worked at MK for about 15 mins and then going about our day somewhere else on a mini vacation we took at the spur of the moment (or so they thought)... As we were approaching MK my son (who had been before) pointed out the castle and her eyes went super wide and she said SOMEDAY mommy can I go there? My son told her you can even eat there and she said SOMEDAY can I have lunch with Cinderella? I said How about today? And they freaked on the monorail and everyone around us was like aaaaawwwwwwwwww... While waiting for our table at CRT she sat on "the throne" down in that lobby area and was chatting away when Cinderella came down and she did not see her.... Cinderella leaned over and said... Excuse me Princess but would you mind if I sat there for a little bit so I can visit with everyone? My daughter about peed in her pants LOL It was the FUNNIEST thing ever... she jumped up and was of course placed first in line to visit... she sat down and they chatted for a long time and then my daughter said... I loved your movie... without missing a beat Cinderella said Oh why thank you princess, what was your favorite part? She said when she married the Prince and C said it was her favorite part too. I got so teary eyed (and am again now) watching the intereaction and the care she took with her and the effort on her part to preserve the wonder and magic for her... Cinderella came by our table while we were eating too to ask her how her lunch was and said something about wanting to make sure to let "cook" know that she was pleased. ...is there ANYTHING more special than watching them make your child's wildest fantasy come true?

Oooh, what did she say? Or did she just say something like "I love all books!" That would sort of be the easy way out!

I used to try to trick characters by asking them non-yes-or-no questions. Like at CP, I would ask Pooh his favorite color, and he just pointed to his shirt. Or I asked Tigger how old he was, and he just acted like he was thinking really hard and counting on his fingers/paw. You just can't fool those guys! :rolleyes1

My DH called Pluto, "Goofy" once too. It was HILARIOUS.

I hadn't heard my DH say, "Thanks Goofy!" as he tried to walk away after getting an autograph, but I knew something was wrong because Pluto was ticked!

He held my husbands arm and wouldn't let go. He jumped up and down. He kept pawing at his collar until I finally noticed he was grasping for his dog tag.
I said, "Brent did you call him Goofy?" Pluto nodded vigorously. He would not release my DH's arm until he said, "I am so sorry PLUTO."
My DDs thought it was awesome! One of our funnest memories. They still tease him to this day.

Two years ago at MGM we saw Daisy and Donald. My middle son loves Donald and was wearing a donald shirt but a baseball hat with the mickey ears. So after posing for pictures, Donald took the hat and put it on his tail.....well i was sure that he just lost his fan as my son hated having his hat taken. Donald danced around while Daisy tried to help my son find the hat and it eventually fell off his tail. A year later we see donald and my son tells him not to take his hat again.

Then last year one of the characters (no clue his name) saw my sons sitting waiting for the parade...both had pretzles. So the guy got down low and crawled up slowly trying to steal the pretzle. I was getting drinks and walked up to see his arm almost at the pretzles so i laughed and said where's your pretzles....they both turned and jumped then took the pretzle....they did offer some to the character but he declined.

I have a question. I've been taking notes and now know what to say to certain characters to get great, cute reactions from them, but then one character I really like to pose with whenever I go to the MK and locate him is, of course, Buzz Lightyear. :teeth: Now, my question is what should I say to him to get a cute reaction? I realize that the only answers I'll be getting back are silent ones, so what should I bring up to him? I'm just curious, and would really appreciate an answer. Thanks. :teeth: :hyper:

Last year my DS2 had one of those spinning/light up Buzz Lightyear toys. When we were in line @ MGM waiting for Buzz and Woody, Buzz noticed my sons toy and was so excited. He took it over to Woody and pointed to it proudly and then pointed to him and shook his head no (meaning there isn't one of him). It was so cute and my DH and DS got the biggest kick out of it.

Last year At Donald's Breakfastsaurus, Donald saw my Donald Tshirt and Donald hat and got excited and came over. I said, that's nothing look at this, and showed him my Donald watch. He strutted all over the place and dragged Pluto and Goofy over to see. When Mickey showed up, he strutted over to MM and signed that I had a Donald watch. Mickey walked by with his nose in the air and wouldn't look at our table. It was a hoot.

Belle is one of my favorite characters to talk to. Somehow, she's the one who asks the questions, not me. I wanted to mention that when I wore a shirt that said "Pirates" she said that she and Beast were reading books about pirates. Another time, she asked about my favorite genre. When I told her she said she likes to read everything. It really makes sense for her to say that since she lives in a small town where she's read everything in the library, some more than once! She's also mentioned that she's read books about New York (in reply to where we were from) so I'm inclined to think she'll read pretty much anything. Once she gets started on the topic of books, she loves to talk, lol.

Our favorite character to talk to is Wendy. I make sure to put Julie in a green shirt before finding Wendy, so she'll always say "That's Peter's favorite color" ... however, I think I am going to ask Wendy what her favorite color is next time.

This last trip, we were taking our picture with Goofy and Pluto. I told Julie to kiss Pluto, but she was with Goofy ... and I said wait, switch that. Then when she was with Pluto, I told her to kiss Goofy. I said, oh no, I'm backwards again. I think it's time for my nap. Pluto laughed and nodded, and then kissed my hand. HAHA. Goofy tried to kiss Julie, but she was acting scared.

Anyone back recently and have anything to add to this? My kids are loving all of these tips and can't wait to use some of them.

Just DON"T ask Chip and Dale where they keep their nuts.

Big mistake. I can't look at them to this day!

On our last cruise it was DS's birthday (he turned 14). Our friends were waiting in line to see Capt. Jack while we waited nearby. Wendy came through and they told her it was DS's birthday. She came over and made a big fuss saying in her best British accent - "Is it your birthday?" She then got everyone in line (including Capt. Jack) to sing him happy birthday. Today, whenever he sees Wendy he runs in the opposite direction.

Great thread. My DD3 got to meet Chicken Little and Abbey that is her favorite movie. And she said the sky is falling they started running around with her. I now have her picture with them on a t-shirt and she can't wait to go back and show them. Someone in a store asked her about her shirt and she told the woman all about meeting characters.
Then when we were in the Judge's tent I started singing Hot Dog(Mickey Mouse clubhouse ending song) and Goofy started dancing with her. She's so little and he's so tall very cute...
I can't wait to go back! Thanks for keeping my fix going!
